S2 CfE Electives

Picture

A major part of the Curriculum for Excellence is about pupils having the change to try a range of experiences and outcomes. In line with this the department offer the following elective courses.

Mechatronics and Structures:
Mechatronics is a core discipline of mechanical and electronic systems controlled by a micro-processor. The unit is based around the excellent Lego Mindstorm kit in which the pupil will build and program a  robotic vehicle.

Structures:
Using Knex bridge building kits, pupils will build 7 models of various types of bridges, including Suspension, Cantilever and Cable-Stayed. The pupils will also create a PowerPoint presentation showing a real life bridge type example and detailing some facts, advantages and disadvantages of each
