S5/56 Short Course - Craft Baking and Cooking on a Budget- 1 double lesson

During this course pupils work independently upon Baked or Cooked products that they have chosen to make. Pupils research recipes, carry out conversion from Imperial/American weights to Metric as necessary and scale up or down recipe quantities as appropriate.

Pupils need to ensure that they are familiar with the recipes prior to making them and plan what they are going to do in set stages in order to produce their chosen product. Advice from their class teacher should be sought prior to the practical lesson to clarify any concerns.

Pupils are expected to purchase their own ingredients for the course and provide suitable baking tins/trays as well as containers to transport home.

Some small equipment is available for pupils to use, but pupils must check with their class teacher for availability. Some ingredients that are required in small quantities e.g. baking powder, herbs, spices, seasonings are available from the Department.
