SCHOOL CLOSURE TASKS
During the next few weeks while school is closed, we would recommend that all pupils (S1-6) spend a bit of time relaxing each day by doing some reading. There are a number of places offering free audiobooks and ebooks at the moment including Amazon, Audible and Borrow Box (through Orkney Library).
All pupils have been added to a class Teams page.
On these pages pupils will find learning activities to complete for the 2 weeks up to the Easter Break.
S4-S6 Senior Phase
All Senior classes have been added to a class Teams page.
Please check these pages for work and communication from the English department.
Why not use film as a way of engaging your children with learning while developing their literacy? There are age / stage appropriate film guides on offer. Click on thy image above.
English, Literacy & Media
In the English Department pupils develop their reading, writing, talking and listening skills, enabling them to develop their ability to contribute and communicate effectively in a range of contexts. These skills are essential to their success across the school, and beyond in the world of work.
Learners study a wide range of literature and media, developing their analysis and evaluation skills and exploring connections between the texts they read and the world we live in. They are also given extensive opportunities to create their own texts, both written and spoken, encouraging them to develop their language skills through producing creative, critical and transactional responses.
