The Orkney Peedie Olympics 2020 has begun!  From Monday 15th June there will be a series of challenges for pupils to complete since there is no traditional sports day.  This has been developed by Orkney's amazing itinerant PE staff, along with Active Schools, and so is also being ran in a number of the local primary schools.  Therefore you may be able to compete against any siblings you have!

The KGS PE department have set the KGS pupils a challenge to collectively run or cycle 154 miles, (the distance from Inverness to Kirkwall), in a week. So far, 44.7 miles have been achieved leaving a target of 109.3 miles by Wednesday 6th at midday!
To contribute your miles, send a screenshot of your run or cycle to the KGS PE Instagram or alternatively by email to "matthew.drake@glow.orkneyschools.org.uk".

We recommend using the Strava app if you have a smart phone. Alternatively, you can use the measuring tool on google maps to record your exercise. Goodluck!

S1-S3 BGE

Could all pupils follow the KGS PE Department Instagram page.

https://www.instagram.com/kgs_pe_dept/

We will be uploading videos for tasks/challenges that can be done at home. There will also be links to any appropriate workouts/programmes that pupils can take part in.
S3 Elective

All S3 elective pupils have been allocated to a Teams page. Pupils will be asked to complete tasks based on work that they have carried out during the school year.

Any materials that will help support pupils will also be uploaded to their Teams.
S4-S6 Senior Phase

All certificate classes have been allocated to a Teams page.

Homework and Past Paper questions will be uploaded to Teams and pupils are asked to email responses to their PE teacher for marking.

Kit Policy/Dress code

The department's kit policy requires pupils to bring a complete change of clothes for PE from what they have been wearing in and around school that day.

This can include:
  • Shorts/leggings/trackies
  • T-Shirt (again school uniform can be worn if it is a change from what they have been wearing)
  • Trainers (these can be the same as they have been wearing as long as they are clean and non marking)

UNIFORM

IN LINE WITH THE SCHOOL'S UNIFORM POLICY PUPILS WILL BE EXPECTED TO ARRIVE AND LEAVE THE DEPARTMENT WEARING UNIFORM!
