Administration & IT - National 4 and 5

Picture
Senior pupils can work towards achieving National 4 or National 5 qualifications in Administration and IT.

The N4 and N5 courses have 3 compulsory units of study that assess candidate's practical skills:

  1. Administrative Practices
  2. IT Solutions for Administrators
  3. Communication in Administration

National 4 is assessed internally using various assessments plus an Added Value Assignment.  The work is assessed by the teacher throughout the course in accordance with SQA regulations.

National 5 pupils are required to complete the 3 units of study.  There is a 3 hour assignment (completed in March) and a 2 hour practical exam (in May).  Both are externally marked by the SQA and pupils are graded A-D .  The N5 Assignment accounts for 58% of a student's grade with the final exam making up the remaining 42%.

S5/6 pupils can study Administration at this level with no prior experience following negotiation with the PT of Business, Technology and Enterprise.
