Hearing Impairment
Recent legislation has led to developments in the provision of education for hearing impaired pupils. Kirkwall Grammar School has a duty to ensure that a young persons education is directed to the development of their personality, talents and mental and physical abilities to their fullest potential.
Hearing Impaired pupils within Kirkwall Grammar School have their needs identified and met. They are supported appropriately, this support is reviewed regularly. Some Hearing Impaired pupils may not require high levels of support but still require to have their progress monitored. For others, careful planning and support will be needed to enable them to develop with Kirkwall Grammar School. We also have the support of Nicky Palmer, Hearing Impaired Specialist Teacher.
