Dear Parents and Carers
This week has been full of awards and celebrations as pupils were invited to receive their Duke of Edinburgh awards in the Council Chambers, along with us saying goodbye and thank you to Mrs Harvey who has been such an important part of our school for many years.
We have 1 final week until the Easter break and I know all pupils and staff have thoroughly earned the break! Thank you to all our parents and carers who continue to support us so fantastically – with your support, anything is possible!
Today’s update has 3 notices:
We hope you have a lovely weekend,
Miss Claire Meakin

Study leave: The SQA exams begin on Tuesday 26th April. Study leave for S4, S5 and S6 pupils will begin on Monday 25th April. There will be immersion sessions running in subjects throughout study leave and we would strongly encourage all pupils to attend them. Details to follow.
Supported Study: Our after school supported study programme has been shared with pupils and is available on the school website and KGS Facebook page. Supported study is available for most subjects.
Promoting Positive Behaviour and Relationships (Mr Harvey and Mrs Watson)
We continue to work hard supporting our pupils in and out of school. As part of this support Police Scotland will be visiting the school next week to run interactive sessions with groups of pupils in all Year Groups on the subject of Hate Crime. These will be really interesting and worthwhile sessions! Thank you to all parents/carers for their continued support.
Universal Support (Ms Devlin)
Mr Stanley (our librarian) continues to do a fantastic job at keeping the support pages on our website updated. We’ve been incredibly lucky to have had contact from some brilliant organisations this week including Relationship Scotland (Orkney), Orkney Alcohol and Drugs Partnership and LGBT Youth Scotland. We look forward to adding more information to these pages in the coming weeks but please, if you or your child would like any support, reach out to us and we’ll try to coordinate this for you!
