![]() Dear Parents and Carers Thank you for your continued support during another busy, but hugely positive, week. It has been great to welcome back all of our pupils and they have all settled back into the first week really well. We are especially pleased with S1 who seem to be enjoying life at KGS. We have held assemblies for each year group this week, so all pupils have a clear understanding of our expectations of them and the support that staff in the school can give to pupils We hope you all have a relaxing weekend, Mr Neil Ewing Acting Head Teacher Today’s update contains 6 notices:
1. Staffing Update After interviews for the Acting post PT of Maths earlier this week, Roz Mc Mahon is our newest PT and has already started in her new post. Roz will be a fantastic addition to the PT team! I am also pleased to be able to inform you that Jessica Lowrie has been appointed to the permanent post of Curriculum Support teacher and Rachael Suttie has been appointed to the temporary post of Curriculum Support teacher. We look forward to them joining the CS team in due course. 2. Drop off points Could we ask parents and carers not to drop off their children on the double yellow lines just before the bus entrance or in the bus lane please. It is causing the traffic to back up in the mornings and is blocking access to the school buses. Your support with this would be really appreciated. Securing the Best Outcomes (Joe McCall) 3. SQA Appeals Process Following on from the receipt of their SQA results, pupils who believe that they might be able to appeal a grade should contact the Principal Teacher of that subject as soon as possible if they haven’t already done so. 4. Re-Coursing At assembly this week, S5 and S6 pupils were informed that requests to change courses following receipt of their SQA results, must be made by end of the school day on Monday 22nd August. Guidance staff have been supporting pupils with their options. Promoting Positive Behaviour and Relationships (Mr Harvey) 5. Maximising Opportunities to Learn This week we had assemblies for all year groups welcoming them back to school and sharing our expectations for the year. In all assemblies we spoke about Maximising the Opportunities to Learn. The idea was that all pupils received the same consistent message at the very start of term. Please follow the link to watch a short video explaining our Promoting Positive Behaviour Poster: https://prezi.com/v/view/SdWiMVVzuVgkv0t1GvpC/ Securing the Highest Level of Universal Support (Ms Devlin) 6. New S1 Update We have had a positive start to the new school year and have been delighted with our new S1 cohort. Guidance teachers have been introducing themselves to their new classes and pupils. The S1 pupils get out early from class for the first two weeks at break and lunchtimes to give them a chance to get used to the school system. They have already had their first proper assembly and have been ably supported to their classes by our S6 buddies. If you do have any concerns about your young person, please do not hesitate to get in touch with their Guidance teacher. Comments are closed.
