Term 3, Week 10

11/3/2022

Dear Parents and Carers,

Whilst it’s ‘a little blowy’ outside, the sun is shining, and I hope you can enjoy a relaxing and happy weekend.  Thank you for continuing to offer the school your support – it really does mean a great deal to the staff who are working so hard to ensure our pupils are safe, happy and achieving.

Today’s update has 2 quick notices:
  • Reminder about support available for senior pupils in preparation for their national qualifications (Mr Ewing)
  • A plea to support our dress code (Mr Harvey and Mrs Watson)

If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us,

Miss Claire Meakin
Head Teacher

Reminder about support available for senior pupils in preparation for their national qualifications (Mr Ewing)

e-Sgoil Easter Study Support: For S4-S6 pupils, e-Sgoil's Easter Study Support School 2022 is open for registration. The e-Sgoil Easter Study Support programme runs between April 7th and April 14th, providing live interactive daytime webinars. There will be eighty webinar groups covering sixty-six courses, ranging across levels from N4 through to N5, Higher and AH. Each group will meet for three different online sessions.  For further information, and to register, please visit https://www.e-sgoil.com/study-support/#ss

Study leave: The SQA exams begin on Tuesday 26th April. Study leave for S4, S5 and S6 pupils will begin on Monday 25th April. There will be immersion sessions running in subjects throughout study leave and we would strongly encourage all pupils to attend them. Details to follow.

Supported Study: Our after school supported study programme has been shared with pupils and is available on the school website and KGS Facebook page. Supported study is available for most subjects.

A plea to support our dress code (Mr Harvey and Mrs Watson)

All staff are aiming to keep windows and doors open in classrooms to support good ventilation and we know this can mean the rooms can sometimes be cold.  When the weather warms up, we’ll be asking all pupils to remove outer clothing layers unless they display the school logo. For now though, please encourage your child to wear an item of their dress code – even if it’s under a coat to keep them warm. Your support with this is gratefully received.
